The 2008 Pakistan Election Part One
The
Pakistan Election is due to take place January
8, 2008. Assuming that it takes place as
planned, and this is a big if with Pakistan
politics so much like a soap opera, the voting
day is indeed a decisive one for political
control. On January 8 2008 the Sun, Moon and
Jupiter will all be in Capricorn with the New
Moon almost exact at 7 PM when the counting of
the votes should start. Saturn will be
retrograde leaving the door open for unfavorable
action especially since it is in the sign Virgo
that seems to represent Pakistan in its present
incarnation.
Capricorn and Saturn symbolize the intense
desire to hold political control. In the USA
elections it has been the person who in a
primary position held the most Capricorn in
their chart who placed first. An abundance of
Cancer, Libra and Aries come next in that order
for placing the American leader at the helm.
There is one other factor that enters into
politics and that is the reluctance of the
incumbent to give up power regardless of how
they obtained it if they are a Leo. Some famous
Leos who have and are holding their ground are
Napoleon, Mussolini, Slobodan Milosevic, Bill
Clinton, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez and
Parvez
Musharraf, the
current Prime Minister of Pakistan who took
control in a coup in 1998.
The
Capricorn wins through the sheer power of how
they control what is going on around them. The
Leo just takes the leadership position and does
not let it go.

and formally declared they are in the running
for the Pakistan election are Benazir Bhutto,
Nawaz Sharif and
Parvez

Sharif looks to have the strongest Natal package
although via the retrograde he carries negative
baggage through his retrograde Saturn,
Nawaz was the former
Prime Minister who was ousted in the coup by Leo
Musharraf and was
subsuequently
expelled from Pakistan on charges of corruption.
He is the winner.
Benazir Bhutto has a strong Natal package but it
is highly clouded by her retrograde Chiron,
Saturn and Neptune, she has twice been taken
from the position as Prime Minister on charges
of corruption. She is second place.
Parvez
Musharraf standing
by himself has no chance to win this election
based on Natal assets. He is third place.
But
Pakistan politics is not that simple. Benazir
with her Libra working at full speed is prepared
to partner with anyone who can get her to power.
If she partners with Nawaz
then Musharraf
cannot let the elections be fair or he is lost.
If she partners with
Musharraf then it is a dog fight with
Nawaz but
Musharraf would hold
power.

us not underestimate the Natal holding power of
Musharraf:

Bhutto with her Progressed assets added to her
Natal assets will be able in a fair election to
win. As a partner with anyone of the other two
in a fair election she can win. As a partner
with Musharraf in an
unfair election she would win. She holds the
strongest cards. Her retrograde P Chiron (crowds
and large gatherings of people) has almost been
her undoing as a recent close but not fatal, for
her, motorcade bombing left many dead.
Parvez
Musharraf has a very
strong progressed hand and should he choose to
partner with either of the other two he wins.
Both his P Mercury and P Neptune are early
(young) Libra and he is having difficulty in
seeing the wisdom of a partnership. His
retrograde P Saturn is giving him problems with
Benazir who has a lot of Natal Gemini including
a Sun Cusp. Parvez
still has strong Progressed Leo with Jupiter,
North Node and Pluto. He may also have a
Progressed Taurus Moon for added staying power
and if not he is strong with a Progressed Aries
Moon. His progressed package is all he has in
terms of winning a fair election. He has two
choices (1) partner or (2) cheat because he
cannot make it alone.
Nawaz
Sharif is a bit of an unknown here due to birth
time. If his Progressed Moon is in Capricorn
then his had is greatly strengthened. If it is
still back in Sagittarius then it is not yet his
time. His P North Node retrograde in Aries shows
that he is covering old ground as does the P
Saturn retrograde. The P Neptune retrograde does
not speak well for a partnership.

It seems that Parvez
Musharraf has more tricks up
his sleeve. His government
has decided that the
election papers filed by
Nawaz Sharif are invalid
because he has been in the
past convicted of
corruption. Nawaz is
appealing while calling for
Benazir Bhutto to boycott
the election. Benazir is
reluctant to do this as she
rightly says that would give
the election to Musharraf. A
correction to last week
where I used the term Prime
Minister it should have been
President.

Follow up to December 2,
2007. It seems that Hugo
Chavez has in the past been
put in jail for staging a
coup in Venezuela to steal
the leadership position. In
this weeks Venezuelan
referendum that included a
clause that would allow
Chavez to run for President
indefinitely he narrowly
lost 49% yes to 51% no. In
true Leo sprit he told his
supporters that 49% was
really a mandate and that
the legalities were yet to
be sorted out. Chavez is not
leaving any time soon. Just
like Leo Fidel Castro the
USA will most likely try to
assassinate or oust Chavez.

One down and one to go.
Pakistan (see Dec 2, 3, 4 –
2007) Parvez Musharraf has
narrowed the field by having
the election committee
declare (and uphold on
appeal) that
Nawaz Sharif cannot stand
for election due to past
convictions. That now only
leaves Parvez Musharraf and
Benazir Bhutto. This has
been a big win for Musharraf
and on the subject of wins
Musharraf has also declared
that he is now head of the
Pakistan Nuclear Commission
in charge of all Pakistan’s
nuclear weapons.

If anyone thought that Hugo
Chavez after loosing a
narrow vote to allow him to
run for President
indefinitely would humble
him and make him quiet were
disappointed when he came
away from the latest meeting
of all his Latin neighbors
in Cuba the undisputed
leader using oil as his
Christmas presents. It looks
like he wants to be
socialist leader of the
region. I wonder how you
stage a coup on a region?

In the volatile politics of
Pakistan Leo Parvez
Musharraf is firmly in
power. The Pakistan
government has declared the
candidacy of Nawar Sharif to
be invalid due to past
criminal convictions and
this has been upheld on
appeal. Exit opposition
candidate # 1. December 27,
2007 Benazir Bhutto was
assassinated by
“terrorists”. Exit
opposition candidate # 2.
If the January 8, 2008
elections go ahead the
chances of Leo Parvez
Musharraf holding on to
power have magnified beyond
belief only a short while
ago. If the January 8
elections do not go ahead
Musharraf will still hold
power until such future
elections are held.
Only one month ago the
Pakistan opposition and the
world demanded the elections
not be postponed and now the
Pakistan opposition is all
calling for an extension.
Parvez Musharraf can almost
do as he wants as he always
has.

When we examine the depth of
strength the Capricorn has
it comes from this dark
starting place. A long rage
ahead that will not stop
