Question: Hi Tony, I
went in to your website and
looked at your theory of
exactitudes. It was interesting
and it makes sense that the
exact degrees of any two given
planets would also be exact what
ever the system being used. I am
aware that the coming together
of any two people, who are
destined to form an important
relationship, would have natal
planets forming important
aspects with each others charts
by progressions. But what do you
mean by "Progress
the mother's natal chart to the
time and
location of the child's birth" Does
this mean create a new chart for
the mother, using the place of
Childs birth as location and
progress it to that time?
Answer:
Hi Monica there are two types of
progressed charts (1) natal and
(2) relocated. A progressed
chart is the birth chart
recalculated to a time in the
future. The time in the future
can be the same place as where
the person was born or a place
they have moved to.
You asked “what do you mean by "
Progress the mother's natal
chart to the time and
location of the child's birth"”
Ok progress the mother’s chart
to the time of the child’s birth
and you will have three charts
(1) the mother’s natal (2) the
mother’s progressed chart (3)
the child’s natal. What I am
saying is there will be
exactitudes between all three
charts. The exactitudes that the
mother shares with the child
natal to natal will be the
places of unspoken understanding
that then become part of the
mother child bond. The mother’s
progressed chart tells the
present circumstances the mother
is in. The child’s natal chart
cannot make a stronger transit
statement to the mother than
birth interaction so the child’s
chart will exactitude to both
the mothers natal and progressed
chart.
The fathers chart can also be
factored in. The father’s natal
chart will have exactitudes to
the child’s natal chart but the
father’s progressed chart may
not interact with the child’s
natal chart unless the father is
playing a significant role at
the time of the child’s birth.
The progressed chart is where
the person is by time and space.
The father’s progressed chart
may find him on another
continent and perhaps not in
communication with the mother.
The father may not know he is a
father so his progressed chart
will act independently of the
child.

Question:
I am in the process of trying
out a relocation chart for
myself and I have relocated and
located back from my birth
place. But I still need to get
one thing clear.
For a Re- location chart - do
I.....
A.
create a new chart taking the
new place's longitudes and
latitudes and using the time and
date of the day I moved there?
Or
B.
Create a new chart using the new
place's longitudes and latitudes
and using my date & time of
birth and then progress this
chart to the date when I moved
to the new place?
Answer:
Hi Monica a very good discussion
to spring clean my astrological
brain.
To progress a chart the simple
answer is that your second
example “Create a new chart
using the new place's longitudes
and latitudes and using my date
& time of birth , and then
progress this chart to the date
when I moved to the new place?”
seems to work ok.
There are two simple formulas
that the software companies use
(1) relocate and progress or (2)
progress and relocate.
These formulas are supposed to
give the same result but I have
not always found that to be the
case.
The basic method as I learned it
was to count down the number of
years in the Ephemeris at the
rate of one day per year. A
progressed chart at age 8 would
be the chart for the 8th day
after birth (Secondary
Progressions)
If the chart is for the birth
location, then make the same
location adjustments you made to
the birth chart and you have the
progressed chart at exactly the
8th birthday.
You can then extrapolate from
the birth date to another date
in the year using daily motion.
The Sun in one day will move
approximately 60 minutes of arc
or one degree. So by progression
the Sun will move one degree or
60 minutes of arc in one year.
If you relocated to a location
that was 12 hours (via time
zones) to the West or East you
effect the progressions by 6
months either before or after
the place of birth.
The Transits affecting the
Progressed chart would be almost
the same East or West save for
local variations due to Sun,
Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars
having fast daily motions.
The Transit chart would interact
with the natal chart almost the
same but the relocated
progressed chart will be
different from the non relocated
chart.

Question: I
understand that exactitudes are
powerful, but doesn't it make
any difference what houses/
signs they're in, considering
the fact that it is possible
that the house/signs changes
from one system to another.
Would exactitudes be so powerful
in themselves that their
position in the various charts
doesn’t matter? Wouldn't the
over all interpretation change?
Answer:
Exactitudes by
themselves are somewhat neutral
rather than powerful. It is the
planets involved that create the
power. The exactitude is the
place of power transference.
That is why I place great
importance on the apparent
motion of the planets involved
as the retrograde energy is
difficult.
The sign that the planet is in
tells how it is happening while
the house tells where it is
happening. Due to overlapping
systems the how and where may be
foggy.
The interpretation is based on
the system used. If two people
in two different languages ask a
baker for a loaf of bread and
the baker understands both then
the end result is a common
denominator namely a loaf of
bread being given to each
person.
Each chart is correct to the
system used and all systems are
systems of a greater whole. Each
chart is showing a different
perspective of
a moment.

Question: How can we
see from a chart if a person
will be more on control of the
events taking place in a
person’s life? Is it just Saturn
or are there other factors too?
Please enlighten.
What about people who’s lives
have changed dramatically like
Oprah Winfrey who had
a very abusive child hood and
the went on to become one of the
richest women in the USA .
Breaking all
the glamour world rules by being
black, a woman, over weight and
not particularly pretty.
What determined her inner beauty
being more predominant in a
superficial world of TV? What
kind of a chart does she have?
Answer:
When talking about control
astrologically you are talking
about Saturn. Where Saturn is
placed in the astrological chart
will give the area the control
will manifest itself both by
astrological house and
astrological sign. To me the
most important role Saturn will
play is in its interaction with
other planets within the birth
chart. You have mentioned Oprah
Winfrey; with Oprah Winfrey you
have given me an easy example.
She was born according to
www.astrodatabank.com the
leading web authority on
astrological chart accuracy, Jan
25, 1954, 4:30 am CST + 6:00,
Kosciusko, MS, 33N03 27 89W35
16. So where is her Saturn?
Saturn 09Scorpio03 in the 11Th
House. Does she have any
exactitudes
(exact degree angular
interaction)? Yes Sun
09Aquarius00 and Venus
08Aquarius55. This three way
exactitude is very precise and
very powerful.
Oprah also has her North Node
23Capricorn56 and Chiron
23Capricorn35 again another
powerful Saturn/Capricorn
statement.
Oprah has her Rising Sign at
29Sagittarius41 just minutes
away from a Capricorn (Saturn)
Rising and certainly a strong
Capricorn cusp.
Sometimes astrology is very
clear as in the case of Oprah.
For other rich people it may be
different astrological
configurations due to the money
coming at birth or by gaining a
rich partner.
Bottom line Saturn controls
money
and in this world that is power.
Money itself is Virgo.
while
the holding of money is Taurus.
Astrologically karma is 12th
House Pisces stuff, the end of
the 12 sign journey and all the
accumulations gathered. Karma
can be looked at in two ways (1)
karma we are born with (I am not
a big fan of inheriting bad
stuff when I don’t remember why)
(2) karma created by our actions
in this life

Question: Tony,
thanks for your comments on
Oprah's chart
I logged on to the web link and
had a look at opera's chart,
which was interesting! As
an amateur this is what stood
out to me the most.
The
first house, which is basically
Capricorn, its ruler is in the
eleventh. The 11th house
basically stands for groups
friends etc. but in eastern
astrology the eleventh house is
the most Brilliant house, it
represents HUGE GAINS,
ABUNDANCE. It's said that Any
planet in the 11th house can
only produce benefic results.
Now
the ruler of the eleventh house
(Scorpio) is Mars, which is also
in the eleventh in its own sign.
Scorpio
being the most intense and
passionate sign. Mars =
Energy and in this case very
powerful energy. Mars
is making a trine aspect with
Uranus, a planet of sudden
release of energy. Therefore
intense positive energy is being
indicated here.
In
eastern astrology, Saturn is
also said to be the ruler of
Aquarius. If we go by that, then
the 2nd house 9 (income) and
Venus sun & mercury are also
deposited by Saturn and again
the same powerful positive
energy is being symbolized in
Income & Gains houses.
In
Vedic astrology, mars is the
only planet that aspects the 4th
house and the 8th house from its
position, so it aspects the 2nd
and 6th.
In Eastern Vedic
astrology, planetary connections
between the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th,
10th & 11th houses make the
chart powerful
Sorry that I have applied
eastern rules on a western
chart. I know this is
technically wrong but I found it
amazing that it was still making
sense, feel free to comment.
Answer: You
say “I have applied eastern
rules on a western chart. I
know this is technically wrong
but I found it amazing that it
was still making sense, feel
free to comment.”
I do not consider mixing the
rules technically wrong. In my
Theory of Exactitudes I advocate
the interaction between
different types of zodiacs.
You say “in eastern astrology
the eleventh house is the most
Brilliant house, it represents
HUGE GAINS, ABUNDANCE. It's said
that Any
planet in the 11th house can
only produce benefic results.” I
do not see any conflict with
western thinking for the 11th
house except eastern astrology
has added more Jupiter. The 11th
house is Aquarius the storehouse
of knowledge. As to any planet
in the 11th getting a
benefic
charge that is the same
as western astrology giving
positive status to the 11th
house and Aquarius.
You say “Mars
is making a trine aspect with
Uranus, a planet of sudden
release of energy.
Therefore Intense positive
energy is being indicated here.”
I see Mars at 23Scorpio35 and
Uranus at 20Cancer13rx. This is
outside the range of exactitudes
with 3 degrees and 22 minutes of
separation and increasing as
Mars moves forward and
retrograde Uranus retreats from
the angular interaction. Mars
makes exactitude contact with
Chiron 23Capricorn35 and North
Node 23Capricorn56
You say “In
eastern astrology, Saturn is
also said to be the ruler of
Aquarius.” Since in western
astrology Saturn rules Capricorn
and the 10th house it
looks like the difference is an
overlap issue that doesn’t
recognize Uranus.

Question: “Oprah's
square aspect between Sun and
Saturn are very positive, yes.”
Answer:
Not quite I said “they are 90
degrees apart and from an
aspects point of view this is a
square and should be negative or
difficult.”
It is just an exactitude waiting
to be fueled by passing planets
that are giving or taking energy
via Apparent Motion.
Here are two more quotes:
“The way I am viewing
Exactitudes
at this time decides there is no
lesser and greater. What I mean
here is that a square Exactitude
and a trine Exactitude and a
semi-sextile
Exactitude are viewed just as an
Exactitude or Energy of Life
Force being transferred, with
the Exactitude being the
identifier of transference. The
magnitude and type of the
transference is due to the
characteristics of the moving
bodies involved and their
Apparent Motion.” And “To be
clear I am separating angular
interaction from aspects.”
(From: A Theory of Exactitudes
located on the Theories Page.)
Well here I could have been
clearer and said I am separating
angular interaction via
exactitude from aspects.

Question: Tony, you
say that
Saturn ' controls money'
so to have
money, does this mean that a
good Saturn is necessary? If
it's well placed and well
aspected money would be easily
obtained. And vice versa money
would be hard to attain
And Virgo
'is money'
how come? So does this mean that
the house that Virgo is
corresponds with, is
the department of life where
money will come from or spent or
what?
Answer: As to Saturn
being the control of money I go
to basics. Of Fire, Earth, Air
and Water it is the practical
Earth signs that represent
money. The cardinal Capricorn
leads the way while fixed Taurus
holds ground and Virgo disburses
money power. A strongly
interacted Saturn is necessary
to want to control power and
wealth. Planets in earth signs
show abilities related to money.

Question:
I know the role
of the transits chart; it
basically compliments/ fine
tunes, the results of the natal
+ progressed chart.
But out of the
'natal chart' and 'progressed
chart', what importance would
you give each of them, for the
role they play?
For instance, a
number from 1-10.
Is
it crucial for the natal chart
to be powerful, or can some one
attain the same with out having
such a powerful natal chart, but
due to powerful progressions
taking place?
Answer:
It is all about the magic of
free will, how we choose to
grasp a moment. Grasping a
moment is awareness. The Natal
Chart is for sure the
springboard that we enter life
with and the life tools we have
to work with. Where the
Progressed Chart fits will be
like this. In Oprah’s chart her
Sun is 09Aquarius00. Since via
Secondary Progression her Sun
will progress one degree per
year by the age of 21 her
progressed Sun will be
(approximately) 00Pisces00 thus
a change. Now apply a 3 degree
(3 year) cusp and you have from
the ages of 18 to 24 as a time
of zodiacal sign transition. At
the age of 51 (approximately)
she will via progression have
her sun at 00Aries00. Again
allow the 3 year cusp and from
ages 48 to 54 will be another
time of zodiacal sign
transition. The moon will change
zodiacal signs every 30 months
(approximately). Other planets
due to speed may never change
signs in a persons life while
others will change direction due
to apparent motion.
Since a tropical chart shows the
sun approximately 25 degrees
ahead of the Sidereal sun the
timing of progressions will be
quite different.
Example
today Tropical Sun 18Aries38
while the Sidereal Sun is back
at 23Pisces50. The
tropical sun will lead the way
through the zodiac followed by a
sidereal sun. The progressed
difference here is at age 11 the
tropical person will be at
00Taurus00 and at age 6 the
sidereal person will be at
00Aries00. It is quite possible
the child will have a life
change at both ages 11 and 6.
Each system may be right but
without a blending of both
sidereal and tropical neither is
complete.

Question: I have only
looked into western and Indian
Vedic astrology. In fact I have
read more western astrological
books. I started out with just
sun signs, and then jumped
straight on to 'The astrologers
hand book.' Signs, Houses,
Planets & Aspects were fine; but
when it came to interpretation
and timing of events, the
western system got too confusing
with all the different charts
systems. Then there was another
chart for progressions and
another one for transits all the
aspects between the natal
chart
the progression chart and the
transits chart, was all too
much. Too
tediously complicated. I
then discovered the Vedic system
for general interpretation it
was enough for me. Timing of
events was all calculated in a
systematic way, based on the
exact degree and sign placement
of the moon, at the time of
birth. Each planet has a ruling
period and within that period
all plants have sub periods. By
looking at the main periods and
sub periods, it was easy to see
the area of life that was most
dominant at that time, by where
those planets where placed in
the natal chart and how well
they were placed and aspect. I
initially rejected this system
since there was no logical
explanation given on its
working. But
when I applied it. It
seemed to work, so there was no
reason to reject it. Besides it
had been tried and tested for
thousands of years.
Till recently I had thought
that the difference between
western chart system (Tropical)
and the Eastern chart system
(sidereal) Had some thing to do
with the fact that the universe
was expanding; and that the
eastern system was more in line
with the changes and that the
western system, due to the
general popularity of sun signs,
had not changed at all. I
remember some years back there
was a huge debate among
Astrologers on this issue.
But on reading one of your
recent postings about the
difference between eastern
systems and western chart
systems in response to some one
else asking the same question,
my confusion got cleared up too.
You say that whether we use a
tropical chart or sidereal, the
house and planets generally
remain the same and only the
signs change, well that only
happens when we use the equal
house system. If the
placidus system
is used then even the planets
change houses, which can be very
discouraging if your planets
move from good houses to not so
good ones!
You say that " Uranus, Pluto
and Neptune are slightly
overlooked in eastern astrology
and that can be seen in the
cultures of the east that have
not embraced Uranus as North
America with its space age
philosophy.
From my western point of view
the eastern philosophy is more
Capricorn in its sternness" I
know exactly what you're saying
here. But I beg to differ
slightly. - Eastern philosophies
are very Aquarius and Pisces in
nature, IT"S the Interpretation
and Incorporation of them
in very Capricorn type cultures
& societies, that colors the
philosophies giving them a
Capricornish appearance.
I guess this is a bit like
Saturn ruling Capricorn and co
ruling Aquarius and if Saturn
represents the philosophy and
Capricorn and Aquarius
represent two types of
societies. Then the sign
placement of Saturn determines
how the same philosophies are
interpretation and expressed.
The Aquarius society would go
far deeper in and discover
freedom of individual thought.
While the Capricorn society
would take all the
disciplinarian & structuring
factors from that same
philosophy.
Answer:
Your "basic knowledge" is just
fine. My point about the 11th
house was to say that both
eastern and western systems are
saying the same kind of thing
about the house placement. Both
systems have the same House
placement in common. When
comparing Sidereal and Tropical
systems the Houses will remain
the same as will the planets in
the house just the zodiacal sign
on the house cusp will
be different. There will be many
times when both sidereal and
tropical have the same planet in
the same house and in the same
sign. The
degrees are the difference.
When you say eastern astrology
are you referring to Arabic
astrology or Vedic astrology?
As to Saturn being karmic and
having learnt lessons yes but
that is due to Capricorn having
the life experience of all the
preceding signs with the
strongest being mother Cancer.
The North Node and Chiron was my
point. The North Node is
considered the strongest karmic
Node and with an exactitude
conjunction to Chiron this is
important.
I give Chiron Libra like
qualities while crowds and
gatherings are strongly agitated
by Chiron.
You say that
Uranus, Pluto and Neptune are
slightly overlooked in eastern
astrology and that can be seen
in the cultures of the east that
have not embraced Uranus as
North America with its space age
philosophy. From my western
point of view the eastern
philosophy is more Capricorn in
its sternness.
Oprah's Jupiter to me is Jupiter
16Aquarius39rx and MC (the moist
elevated degree in the zodiac)
17Libra25.
Most of the current retrograde
work I have done has been on
non-natal charts but when I did
do natal charts people came to
see me when they were being
affected by a transiting
retrograde pattern. The
retrograde planet in the chart
will show an area where work is
required to keep pace and if
Jupiter then weight comes into
play. The natal retrograde may
be the place where a person must
overcome to survive.
As to using exact degrees that
is the way my astrology has
developed. If out of the
exactitude range then I would
use a more freeform astrology
such as Jupiter in Aquarius
Retrograde.
When I used Trines and Squares
etc then 3 degrees seemed a fair
Orb. I have seen some use 5 and
7 degree Orbs. A wide orb
denotes a lot of lead time to
the event. If it had been a
Retrograde Mercury and a Direct
Jupiter then the angular
interaction is forming rather
than finishing.
The Eleventh House is the
benefactor of the efforts of the
Tenth House.

Question: “I accept
that, you cannot go ardently by
rules, in an abstract science
like astrology, since so much
symbolism is at play, But then,
how is one to know when to defy
the rules and when not to?”
Answer:
Experience is that answer.
They say it takes 15 years
to be an astrologer. After 5
years I was running an
astrology business doing 5
charts a day with several
other astrologers working
with me. I meet a lot of
astrologers and we all
learnt a lot. After 12 years
I was into mostly theory and
writing and thinking. And
now after 38 years I keep
working my theories to unify
and unfold astrology. Only
at the very beginning did I
use aspects giving weight to
trines and squares but
almost nothing to sextiles
and semi-sextiles. The only
two aspects I now use are
the conjunction and the
opposition and place most
weight on the conjunction
but I would only use a
conjunction and opposition
if it was in exactitude and
as an exactitude. I have
always had a soft spot for
the quincunx as a deflected
opposition. Symbolism is
what is sinking in through
knowledge and insight. The
more experienced the
astrologer the more accuracy
and exactness are very
important.
Thus the
shrinking of orbs from 7
degrees, to 5 degrees, to 3
degrees and finally to 1
degree an exactitude in
action.

Question: “I have
noticed that you give a lot of
importance to apparent motion.”
Answer: “The
direct station is a time of
unrestricted potential. It
is as if a light has come
on. Apparent motion is the
pulse of the light of
illumination. Direct motion
is the flow of the light of
illumination. Retrograde
motion is the generator of
illumination. All is
illuminated, from the soul
to the mind. The spectrum of
ability for dealing with
this illumination is the
desire to "be." At different
times, the illumination will
have the extremes of
absolute brightness and
total darkness. The ability
to deal with this light is
found within
direct/retrograde patterns
in the natal and
Progressed charts.”

Motion located on the

Question: What would
be the result if two retrograde
planets where at an exactitude,
either in a trine or square
aspect in the natal chart?
Answer: Two
retrograde planets
interacting via exactitude
are a problem. The fact that
one is a trine and the other
is a square does not enter
into exactitudes. I look to
apparent motion for
difficult and easy. While
the retrograde planet is
generating the illumination
there is no forward motion
however it appears that if
you set your sites on the
direction and work through
rather than give up you can
achieve goals. This is
definitely where character
building comes in. There is
a positive to the
illumination but it is very
hard to see at the time and
may not be achieved without
extra effort.

To view Arabic Parts I became a
Chaldean
riding a camel through the
desert at night flying a kite
linking the stars to patterns
that followed the rising and
setting of the Sun and Moon.
Each Sun Rise or Moon Rise told
a story. No story was the same.
Each Sun Set and Moon set
closed a book as a story ended.
Each night the setting of the
Sun caused the Stars to rise and
fall always creating new
patterns of interaction.
The three dimensional viewpoint
of Arabic Parts is a quantum
hologram that interacts like a
constantly changing Rubik’s
Cube.
Arabic Parts are a very
interesting subject.

May 27, 2007
The basic method (daytime
calculation) for calculating the
Arabic Part called the Part of
Fortune is as follows:
Position of the Ascendant plus
the position of the Moon minus
the position of the Sun
Here are two examples of how the
calculation works using the
following positions (remember 30
degrees per sign and 60 minutes
per degree:
(1) ASC 08Sagittarius04 + Moon
04Sagittarius16 – Sun
03Aquarius17 = Part of Fortune
09Libra04.
(2) ASC 28Cancer00 + Moon
09Sagittarius33 – Sun
03Aquarius48 = Part of Fortune
3Gemini45.
There are really two
calculations (a daytime and a
nighttime calculation) although
many astrologers use only one
(the daytime calculation.
The most modern thinking says
that Method Two (Different
Day/Night) is the correct way to
calculate the Part.
The decider for a Day or Night
calculation since Arabic Parts
is a Sun/Ascendant based system
is that the Sun Conjunct the
Ascendant starts the Day and the
Sun Conjunct the Descendent
starts Night.
Here is how the calculations
differ.
Day Calculation Ascendant +
Moon – Sun = Part of Fortune
Night Calculation Ascendant
+ Sun – Moon = Part of
Fortune
There are over 50 Arabic
Parts. The Part of Fortune
is only one. Arabic Parts
are a complete system.

My belief is that Astrology
is not old but a very young
science with many hundreds
of years before us. I do not
believe that all the
greatness of Astrology was
in the past with the
Chaldeans but rather that it
is a perfect science with
the only imperfection being
on the part of the
interpreter, and thus only
by recorded and documented
findings done in provable
areas will we get out of the
National Inquirer and into
the mainstream community.
The millions of dollars that
go into weather forecasting
with still no accurate daily
event should be one area
advanced upon, plus the
whole gamut of DNA, medicine
to resource planning to a
limitless future of
possibilities.
